Awkwardness, Running, and John Locke

Discussion between Julia and I on the flight from Seattle to LA:
Julia: “God sees the world from this view every day."
Me: "It’s a good thing God isn’t afraid of heights.”
Here are a few words to describe what our night was like: awkwardness, running, and John Locke. The last one may come as a surprise, or you may just be confused right now, but soon this will make sense, maybe.
“Awkwardness” is the single perfect word Mom used to describe our arrival at SeaTac airport. Each of us had, on average, four bags with us. We each rolled one suitcase per hand, stacked suitcases on top of the suitcases we already were rolling, and carried a backpack on our shoulders. I guess we should not have packed the whole house. Lesson learned.
Running. Our LA flight had been delayed, so once we landed, we were in a rush to make our connecting flight to Brisbane. The LA airport is inefficient, so the international airplanes are about a mile away from the Alaska airplane that we flew in. We happened to come across a guy driving a handicapped cart, so he offered to load all of our luggage (and our grandparents) into the cart so that we could get to our destination faster. The one condition: that my parents, sisters, and I would run behind. So we did! We sprinted across the airport after the cruising cart, with our grandparents laughing at the situation. It was so fun!

John Locke. So, I just finished finals and was very exhausted by the time we made it into our 747 airplane. However, it is so hard for me to sit still for thirteen hours! I’ve never been in an airplane for that long! I wanted to start doing pushups or run up and down the aisle, but I restrained myself. If John Locke lived during this time period, he'd say: To enter into civil airplane society, one must give up certain freedoms of movement.

Above is a picture of our 747 plane we took when we had just landed in Brisbane. This double-decker flight was the smoothest I had ever been on.
